Story Vs Character

When playing through stories on TWW, I suspect it is quite likely that some people will come into a conflict of story versus character - a situation in which a negative impact on a character would suit the story better or be more narratively appropriate, but the player is unwilling to let their hero (or villain) suffer such an event. (For instance, a story might be perfectly set up for a heroic death at the end, but the player does not want to lose their character in such a way)

How would you react in such a scenario? Would you accept this negative impact in the name of good story telling, or would you make use of Force to change the story in your favour? Personally, I feel it would depend on the character I'm playing and the specific situation - negative events are crucial to good stories, but the occasion may arise when I have plans for that character and such a negative effect would interfere with that.

I agree, it is completely contingent upon the story and the player how that plays out. The force element will really make it interesting to see how things resolve themselves when this conflict does arise, and how the person who loses reacts.

First I would see it as a great challenge to escape that down fall. My character is not just anybody! With a final effort I would fight to be smarter as my attacker. And btw in my phantasy an end hasn't at all costs to be a definite death, why not come back brighter than in the past.
